The Port Moresby Nature Park is an oasis of green away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It sits neatly down the road from the University and offers up a tropical retreat filled with all the beauty of Papua New Guinea’s flora and fauna.
The park is home to Port Moresby’s only rainforest tract and is the leader in botanical and native zoological parks and gardens. The local government have initiated great improvements and upgrades to the entire area making this picturesque park even more enjoyable for those wanting a taste of the jungle and animal life that is woven through it. You will be able to easily spot many of the 150 animals on display which include Kangaroos, Crocodiles, Birds Of Paradise, Snakes and Wallabies. The trees are alive with fruit bats and cheeky parrots who are waiting for a friendly shoulder to perch on. The Nature Park is also the only place in the world where you can sight all three Cassowary species in a stunningly constructed display facility.
